Good morning.A New Castle man is behind bars following a month-long investigation into a brutal assault with a metal pole. Police arrested 31-year-old Leonel Alvarez Texidor in connection with an April attack on Pin Oak Drive that left the victim with serious head and facial injuries. Investigators used surveillance footage and Flock license plate readers to identify Texidor’s vehicle as it fled the scene. He is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a 50-thousand-dollar bond.Five Westminster College students are facing felony charges this morning after a burglary at a campus storage building. New Wilmington Police say the group broke into Hillside Hall last month to steal sports equipment, jerseys, and even a vacuum. The heist was foiled when one of the students allegedly set off a fire extinguisher, triggering the fire alarm. Officers caught the group following a brief car chase, and all five students have now confessed to the break-in.And an East Side man is facing several life-changing charges. 35-year-old Robert McMasters was arrested after a 12-year-old girl told hospital staff he had been abusing her for the past three years. Police say McMasters attempted to hide from authorities by abandoning his cell phone on a stranger's porch, but they were able to track his vehicle using local traffic cameras. He remains jailed this morning on a quarter-million-dollar bond.
