Good morning. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has launched a brand-new rewards program for regional hunters and trappers. Dubbed the Hunter Achievement Awards, the program recognizes those who legally harvest game species for conservation purposes. Similar to the state's angling rewards, participants can collect species-specific stickers to celebrate their annual harvests across twenty-four different species. DEC officials say applications must be submitted within thirty days of a season closing.Meanwhile, the City of Hornell is honoring a vital member of its municipal team. Hornell Mayor John Buckley recognized water pollution plant mechanic Dana Merring in the city's latest Employee Spotlight. Merring has maintained the complex machinery that processes two million gallons of water daily since 2017. Mayor Buckley called the honor bittersweet, as Merring will officially retire at the end of this month.And in Wayland, residents are celebrating the rebirth of the historic Laf-A-Lot Bar at Loon Lake.
