Good morning.Olean police are searching for a driver following an overnight hit-and-run that left an e-bike rider seriously injured. Investigators say the crash happened around two-forty-five Saturday morning near the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Queen Street. The operator of the electric bike suffered severe injuries, and police are urging anyone with information or camera footage from the area to contact the department immediately.In local pocketbook news, Allegany County residents and businesses will pay significantly more to throw away large trash items starting July first. The Department of Public Works announced steep rate hikes for county transfer stations to cover surging waste disposal costs. Tipping fees for commercial haulers will spike from sixty to ninety dollars per ton, while discarding large items like mattresses and couches will increase to ten dollars each.And a powerful local theatrical production is returning to Steuben County next month to honor a fallen Hornell soldier. "SMITH," a docudrama written by Hornell native Glo Gambino, tells the story of Marine Lance Corporal Zach Smith, who was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2010.
